GLOSSARY__________________________________________

Acoustic insulation: Acoustic insulation concerns all measures taken to reduce the transmission of noise from its source to the places which must be protected or insulated. Insulation prevents noise from being transmitted from one room or enclosed area to another. Insulation results in a reduction of sound (making it a gain) expressed by an (Rw) index in decibels (dB). Materials based on glass mineral wool are for traditional use in separating walls, partitions, and floors, as well as for the upgrade of existing buildings to provide improved sound insulation and resistance.

Acoustic spectral limiter-controller: Electronic device controlling de spectrum sound level emitted by hi-fi or audiovisual equipment installed in pubs, disco-bar, etc, for not to exceed the sound level inside leaving-rooms or outdoor zone permitted by the environmental regulations. The limiter-controller installation requires technical report.

Classified activities: Catering, commercial or industrial activities included in the environmental regulations having all special characteristics consisting in manipulation, elaboration, transformation or storing substances or products which have potential risk for the environment and for producing acoustic and atmospheric exhaust contamination. This type of businesses need special procedures for town hall registration and licensing.

HACCP: Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points is a systematic preventive approach to food safety and pharmaceutical safety that addresses physical, chemical, and biological hazards as a means of prevention rather than finished product inspection. HACCP is used in the food industry and catering businesses to identify potential food safety hazards, so that key actions, known as Critical Control Points (CCP's) can be taken to reduce or eliminate the risk of the hazards being realized.

HVAC: Term for Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning—three closely related fundamental functions found in homes, offices, and other building structures.

Low voltage:  Voltage applied to electric lines up to 1000 Vac and 1500 Vcc. National electric transmission lines use single fase voltage 230V and three-phase voltage 400V at 50Hz. Low voltage is used in building installations.

O.C.A:  Organismo de Control Autorizado - Is the generic name given to an  independent company which perfoms inspection, verification, testing and certification for industrial security to meet the requirements of established standards.

P.G.O.U. Planing permission: Plan General de Ordenación Urbana,  is the development planning system that controls the use of land and what's built on it. It's enforced by local planning authorities (departamentos de urbanismo). Businesses may need to apply for planning permission in a range of circumstances - from building new premises to changing an existing building's use.

Sound level dBA:  The decibel A filter is widely used. dB(A) roughly corresponds to the inverse of the 40 dB (at 1 kHz) equal-loudness curve for the human ear.  Using the dBA-filter, the sound level meter is less sensitive to very high and very low frequencies. Measurements made with this scale are expressed as dB(A).

Technical vehicle report: This report shows abbreviated technical characteristics of an automotive vehicle i.e car, motorcycle, truck, associated to the vehicle approval and VIN number. It´s used for registering imported previously approved vehicles.
